What is Galentine’s Day?
Imagine a holiday that is centered around reminding your lady friends how much they truly mean to you. That is what February 13th, aka Galentine’s Day, is all about!
On Valentine’s Day we celebrate our love for our significant others. On Galentine’s Day, it’s all about ladies celebrating ladies. Later we’ll share some Galentine’s Day celebration ideas.
Why celebrate Galentine’s Day?
You may be asking yourself, “There are random holidays that happen every day, why celebrate this one?” Or, “My schedule is so busy right now, I don’t have time for another event.”
I feel you girl. Sometimes I find myself wondering how other people do it all. Are there really people that have a healthy social life and relationships while also working full time, working out, eating healthy, take care of pets or kiddos, the list goes on. There are some days where I can’t wait to get home and veg out on the latest episode of my favorite Netflix show.
In the world of social media, we may message our lady friends daily. But when is the last time you got to connect with them in person?
Galentine’s Day is that excuse to catch up outside of Instagram DM’s. Meet up in real life and leave feeling refreshed and more connected with the most important women in your life. It might be hard to schedule it in at first. But if you want to feel closer with your friends and strengthen your relationships, prioritizing “movie nights” or grabbing dinner is vital.
It sounds so simple, but those quick 30 minute coffee dates or Monday nights watching the Bachelor make a difference in your relationships. If you can’t do it on a regular basis, Galentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get everyone together even if it’s been a while.
How you choose to celebrate with your lady friends is really up to you, but we’ve got some ideas to get you started.
Dinner & Drinks
You truly can’t go wrong with dinner and drinks with your girlfriends. Try a new restaurant that no one has eaten at before, or head to your favorite spot downtown.
Girls Night Out
If dinner and drinks aren’t your thing, consider inviting your girls to another type of night out. Go bowling, mini-golfing, or the new trend of “axe-throwing”. (I’ve tried it, and it’s great for getting some anger out!)
Activities like these are great for spending quality time together. Whether you’re cheering each other on or failing at the sport together, you are sure to make memories with one another.
If hitting the town isn’t your style, a night in with your girls might be just right. Invite your besties over for a cozy night on the couch watching your favorite movies. Break out the nail polish and face masks and turn it into a spa night too!
Is your schedule too tight for an entire night devoted to Galentine’s Day? Try meeting your friends for a cup of coffee one morning before heading into work. You may have to get up a little earlier, but it’ll be worth it to spend some time catching up with friends.
Brunch is always a good idea. Invite the girls out to your favorite brunch spot for some mimosas, french toast, and good times.
